What I Learned From the 21 Day Fix
So I thought that I would follow up and share with you all of the benefits that I gained while on my journey with the 21 Day Fix. I gained a lot of things that I lost along the way that I never even realized that I had lost!
A New Sense of Self
Having a new sense of who I am has been the greatest gain that I have found with the 21 Day Fix. I feel confident, strong and am starting to feel beautiful again which I have not felt since gaining so much weight! I have worked hard to lose the little weight that I have lost but I know that by pushing on and continuing my journey I am going to do better than I have before. I feel like I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel and like I will accomplish the goals that I have set out to accomplish.
Freedom from Food and Sugar
I will admit that I had a rough first few days while I was on the first round of the 21 Day Fix but what I found is that I was finally able to get away from all of the foods that I had struggled with for years. Freedom from these foods that seemed to weigh me down like chains and freedom from foods that I never felt like I’ve had freedom from before.
The biggest challenge for me was Coke. I love soda and Coke was my weakness. I have learned how terrible for you that Coke is and that dark soda is so much worse than clear sodas. While I would love t state that I have spent the last two months soda free, I have had a few sprites and Mt Dew once. I can state that I have been Coke free and that I broke this habit that was terrible for me.
Confidence was something that I never thought that I would feel again. I had been struggling for so long I thought that I was just going to remain trapped inside this overweight version of me forever. I now know that eventually I am going to reach my goals, even if it takes me a bit longer than I would have wanted or liked.
A New Way of Life
Finally I can not state enough how much finding a new healthy way of life has meant to me. I feel encouraged and empowered when I work out and I actually wake up wanting to be more active. Of course with the lifestyle of a writer there are a lot of times when I am sitting and writing rather than being the most active. However I feel encouraged to do little things and make changes that I know I can stick to for life. In addition I find that I love working out when I get the chance and that I am making the time for workouts a lot more frequently than I ever did before.
Finally I am learning a new way of eating. I am able to better portion and control the food intake that I have. I love that I have learned how to eat food for fuel and learned how to disconnect the emotions that bound me to foods for years. Now instead of gorging on things when I am sad or depressed I find that I can separate my feelings. I might have one bite but then I find myself thinking…”What are you doing? You’re not hungry.” and then I am able to stop. It does not mean that there are not times when I have failed but failure is happening a whole lot less often these days.
I think that the 21 Day Fix really is the diet and exercise program that can work for everyone. I loved my journey on the 21 Day Fix and I saw real results. I lost over 10″ and about 8 lbs. While I would like to say that I had lost more, I am happy with the progress that I have made and know that I will continue going on with my journey to health in the future.
