Your Perfect Denim is Found!

I will admit that jean shopping used to be one of my least favorites.  I always felt like women’s jeans really just were not made for women.  Let’s face it, cuts and styles of women’s jeans can vary from brand to brand and style to style.  What looks good on one woman might not look good on the next.  To ensure that I was fair when trying to find the perfect pair of jeans, I went shopping with a few friends….all different sizes and all different body shapes and what I found was that one brand and one pair of jeans really can look good on us all.  With that being said, you’ve got to check out the Slimming Skinny Jeans.  These really are the perfect pair of jeans for every woman that I know.  They not only slim but help you to feel confident and beautiful which is a win in my book!

Back to School Organization Tips

Simply Shawn N Jenn Disclosure

Let’s face it, going back to school is stressful.  Getting ready for back to school time can be quite a challenge.  There are so many things that we have to remember as parents and so many challenges that present themselves on a daily basis.  Well one of the biggest challenges for my family is keeping organized.  So we have a back to school organization plan that we follow to help keep things in order.

Back to School Organization Tips

1.  Lay Out Things the Night Before

Each night I go through everything that is in my kids’ bookbags. I make sure that papers are signed and that everyone has everything that they need.  I check homework, make sure that it is put back in their bags, and make sure that they have money and everything else that they need.  Doing this really helps us to plan for our exciting mornings and keep things well organized.

2.  Keep Cars Organized

Junkie 1

I will admit that I STRUGGLE when it comes to keeping my car organized.  One thing is for certain,  I am willing to check out any products that are going to make this easier for me.  This is where Bubble Bum‘s new and exciting product, Junkie, comes into play.  Junkie is the single best organizer that I have ever found.

Junkie 3

This organizer has it all…a garbage bag, trays that fold out for kids to eat and write on, an iPad (or other tablet holder), cup holders, and a toy box.  That’s right, it has all of the things that you need to keep your car picked up and organized.  Plus it is made out of a high quality plastic that is not going to easily be torn up when kids are abusing it in the car.

Junkie 2

3.  Let Kids Be Kids

I used to fret over everything…what my kids were eating, what they were packing in their lunch, and what they were wearing.  I finally gave up and let them be kids.  If they pick out an outfit that does not match, I might suggest that they consider something else but I am not going to fight with them.  Instead I just smile and go on with my day.  Doing this allows for them to be read for school and me to have my sanity.

Getting back in the school routine is hard.  Being able to find the things that you need to help you stay on track is easy and something that is possible even for an unorganized mess of a person like myself.

Girls Back to School Shoe Needs Met — The 10 Pairs that Every Little Girls This Fall

Simply Shawn N Jenn Disclosure

Since I am a shoe girl my six year old daughter is a shoe girl. I love taking her shopping and love to hear about the shoes that she loves. I take her opinion, likes and dislikes into consideration when I am shopping for shoes. I thought that I would share her top shoe picks for this fall/winter season.

girls fall shoes 1

1. Morgan and Milo Freddie Mary Jane in Brave Navy ($42)
Althea loves to get dressed up. She would wear a skirt or dress every single day if I would let her. One of the ways that we compromise so that she will wear jeans in warmer weather is to have adorable shoes that have a little bit of bling on them. These mary janes are a perfect choice for her because they feature a bow and sequins.

girls fall shoes 2

2. Livie and Luca Pio Pio Grape Fall 2014 ($58)
This year Althea has been very fond of purple. When I saw that Livie and Luca made a pair of their Pio Pio shoes in a great purple color I was very happy. I know that with the two tones of purple in these shoes that she would be able to easily wear them with all of her purple outfits. They would also look great with a number of additional outfits that she has.

girls fall shoes 3

3. Ugg Australia Cardi Boots ($120)
The women’s version of the Cardi boot has been my favorite since I first heard about Uggs. I love the slouchy sweater style. So when I saw the Cardi boots for girls I was excited because I knew that these would make the perfect addition to my daughter’s fall shoe collection.

girls fall shoes 4 girls fall shoes 4.2

4. Plae Shoes Camille The Boot ($69.95)
Plae Shoes are just too much fun!! They allow your child to change her mind and customize her shoes with additional tabs. I just love these boots and I also love that Althea would be able to try out new tabs for less than $5 per set.

girls fall shoes 5

5. Preschooler’s Stride Rite Disney Princess Frozen Cozy Boot ($49)
Since winter is coming I know that my daughter is going to need a great pair of boots that are cozy. This pair features the stars of Frozen which I am 100% sure that she would love. I love that they are not overpowering on the shoes and that the shoes do not look like the typical character shoes. For me this makes this pair a win and since they are frozen they are a win for her as well.

girls fall shoes 6

6. Pediped Starlite Fuchsia ($53)
Althea is a lot like me when it comes to shoes. She is not a big fan of tennis shoes or shoes that tie. So I buy her several different pairs of Mary Jane styled shoes in different colors. She loves that she can pick the ones that she wants. I love that she actually wears the shoes that I am spending money on. This pair is adorable and I love the bright color.

girls fall shoes 7

7. Umi Shoes Hectorr ($65)
The Hectorr is a great shoe to wear with jeans during the fall and winter. We do a lot of hiking and I love having shoes for my children that are going to work well fore this need. These shoes will really work for Althea to be fall ready. I can just picture them with jeans and a cute sweater.

girls fall shoes 8

8. Tsukihoshi Marina ($54)
Even though her tennis shoes are not the preferred choice most days, there are times when she is ready to put some on with a specific outfit. I personally love the Tsukihoshi line of tennis shoes for children. This pair is adorable and features a number of colors that are all going to be fun for her.

girls fall shoes 9

9. Bogs Kids Wall Ball Mary Jane ($50)
Since mary janes are her favorite I figured that I would let her have a few pairs in different colors for her fall collection. This pair is adorable and so versatile that it would look great with a number of different outfits that we have.

girls fall shoes 10

10. Bogs Kids Wall Ball Velcro ($50)
This pair of shoes comes in some great colors. I personally love this shade and think that they would look perfect with so many cute fall outfits. I also love that they are velcro and would be easy for her to put them on and take them off.

Fall shoe shopping for my school age daughter could end up a nightmarish experience, but with these great finds it was easy. We were even able to look at shoes together online so that I could find out which ones she liked.

Kohls is the Place for Back to School

Simply Shawn N Jenn Disclosure

So once again I was on the lucky list with Kohls. This time I received an awesome Back to School box and was so excited about everything that it contained inside. I will admit that I was most excited to be able to check out the box and to be able to really pick out back to school goodies for my three that will be going to school soon.
The blogger VIP box came with three great items in it that are perfect for any teenager who is headed back to high school or even for someone who is headed off to college.

The Candies Fox Cargo Backpack ($60) is a great purchase for anyone who is hoping to find something different to take back to school with them. I love this bag and think that it is super cute. I would have definitely carried it when I was in college or high school and both of my girls thought that they should have it.
The Perfect Comfortable Leggings

Kohls bts 15

Let’s face it we all like to be comfortable and stylish at the same time. Thankfully SO offers a great line of Graphic Print Leggings ($26) that are perfect for anyone who is looking to have great style and comfort at the same time.
The Perfect Kicks

Kohls bts 2

Candies is a great brand for all of those checking out back to school for a teenager. They offer such fun, funky, functional, and trendy things that you get what you need while getting something that is completely unique at the same time. The Candies Slip On Sneakers ($54.99) that came in the box were the same way. They were adorable and looked great on with many different outfits.
Along with each of these awesome items I was given a $100 gift card to shop back to school items for my children. I loved being able to shop for them and got such great deals at Kohls that all three of them got what they needed and wanted for their first day of school.  Plus they sent me a $50 gift card for a giveaway which will be coming up as soon as the $25 giveaway ends.
So here is what my kiddos picked out for their 1st day of school.
Huxley—A Look at His First Day of Preschool

Kohls bts 7

Huxley is headed back for his second year of preschool this year. He was in need of a new backpack since his old one was toddler sized and too small for many of the things that he was supposed to bring home from school. So he chose the Batman Cape Backpack – Kids ($29.99).

Kohls bts 12

Kohls bts 13

He also needed a new pair of shoes to head back to school and he fell in love with the Clawz Clogs – Kids in blue ($29.99). I will admit that these would not have been my first choice but he is very much in love with them. So much so that I had to hide the back to school stuff so that they would indeed be new for the first day of school.

Kohls bts 8

Kohls bts 10

Finally Huxley needed a new shirt to wear back to school. Since he has so many pairs of shorts I did not purchase another pair of shorts. He chose the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sublimination Tee – Boys 4-7 ($20). This shirt is quite spiffy in my opinion and the graphics are pretty awesome and even quite hilarious.

Althea—Headed to 1st Grade

Kohls bts 3

I can’t believe that this gorgeous little girl is going to be going to first grade. She was really excited to check out Kohls for a new dress for the first day of school. She is a dress type of girl so she is always wanting to wear dresses. She chose the Youngland Crocheted Tiered Dress ($30). She loves it and again it has been hidden with the rest of the back to school stuff so that she is not wearing it before she is supposed to.

Kohls bts 6

She also got the adorable Carters Leslie Flats ($34.99). She loves that these are covered in glitter and that they are fun and cute. She told me that she can not wait for the first day of school so that she can wear these everyday.

Kohls bts 14

Andrew—Going into the 6th Grade

kohls bts 5

Andrew is going to be going through a lot of big changes as he enters the 6th grade. He has a retainer in and is getting used to that and now he is also going to be in band. With all of that responsibility I like to reward him. I was excited to be able to allow him to pick out a new t-shirt. He chose the Majestic St Louis Cardinals Cooperstown Rooted in Nostalgia Tee – Boys 8-20 ($22). He loved this one and I was glad that he chose it because this is my favorite color combination for Cardinals shirts.

Kohls bts 4

Of course Andrew also got a new pair of shoes. He is a huge fan of Adidas which makes me smile since it was my favorite in junior high and high school too. He chose the Adidas Breeze Athletic Shoes – Boys ($54.99) as he loved the color combination. I think its a bit bright but I am sure that my mom thought that about a lot of the things that I wore.

Our back to school shopping has begun and it is really all happening with Kohls. We love the amazing products that Kohls has to offer us and I love the value. If you noticed the regular prices for the items that my children got was over $220 + tax and shipping. I got all of this with a coupon for just $104.16 shipped to my house. WOW!! One more reason for you to love Kohls for back to school. You are sure to get an amazing deal.

5 Tips to Help You Save Money On Back To School Shopping

Simply Shawn N Jenn Disclosure

Many parents dread back to school shopping as much as their children dread heading back to school.  There’s some ways to make back to school shopping a little easier on parents and heading back to school more exiting for your children.  Try some of these fabulous tips before you head out the door for the dreaded school shopping.

  • Know what you have.

Before you jump in the car and head for the store, stop and take inventory.  Grab yourself a pen and paper, find out what will still work and what needs thrown out.  There’s probably some cloths that have been hidden in the back of the closet, which can be worn some this year as well.  I realize we don’t want to send our children to school in their old clothing the first day, but this can cut back on how many outfits your children really need.  Look in that old backpack is there unused notebooks, pens, paper, or anything that can be used this year.  Maybe you bought too many notebooks last year and put them up.  Take a moment to take inventory of what your child already has.

  • Budget

Set a Back to School shopping budget.  Since you took inventory you have a good idea as to what you need while your out shopping, now set yourself a reasonable budget for everything, school supplies, clothing, shoes, etc.  The older your children are, the more fashionably expensive they can be.

  • Let your child control the budget.

What, are you serious.  Very serious, if they are old enough.  Obviously we don’t want to send a 7-year-old out with $300 and say honey now you need to get everything on the list.  You would probably come back to a basket full of gum drops and lollipops.  You know your child, are they old enough to start learning.  They have to learn sometime how to budget and what the real value of a dollar is.  If you do this, be sure to be specific about what you’ll pay for such as, jeans, shoes, shirts, supplies.  When you child comes to you wanting  a pair of shoes that is more than agreed on, maybe allow them to make the difference up using their own money.

  • Vouches, Deals, and Sales

Consider doing your reasearch, are you planning a trip to Marks and Spencer?  If so many you should check to see what M&S Voucher Codes can be found.  There’s plenty of clothing and accessories deals going on for back to school shopping, but is the tax-free holiday the best time to look for these deals.  Maybe the after school shopping is over deals are better.  Consider buying enough to get your child through the first week of school, and then hitting up the after sales.  There’s always wonderful clothing & accessories deals after the back to school season is over.

  • Buy often than Don’t put off back to school shopping until the last-minute.  We know all summer our children will be heading back to school.  When you are in the stores take some extra time to see if there’s an deals or sales that can be taken advantage of.  Plus, not shopping all at one time can make the experiences less stressful on you and your wallet.

If you plan ahead, school shopping shouldn’t be nearly as stressful.  It can also impact your child, especially the older ones that have become fashionably expensive.  If you have a Tween or a Teen you know, the way they look, brand of clothing they have on, and style of shoe is everything, even if you don’t have one yet, you remember.  If they look good and have nice things for school, its likely that they will be excited to return to school to show off their new look.  I know it probably won’t last forever, it’s better than nothing, lol!  Good luck with your school shopping this year.  If you have any awesome tips feel free to leave them, I would love to hear what else we can do to help save us some money.

5 Ways to Save Money While Back To School Shopping

Simply Shawn N Jenn Disclosure

I just realized today that we have less than a month left before school starts, it hit me like a ton of bricks.  I need to start back to school shopping, I always shop early to avoid having one huge expense.  It’s easier for this mother of 4 to break it up into a few different paychecks.  Back to school shopping is a huge expense and its important to do everything we can to save money.

Back to school will be here before you know it!  Are you ready to start school shopping again?  This year start early and do it the smart way, starts shopping and saving!  Since you have an early start on your children heading back to school this year there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to start saving some money.  Here are 3 awesome tips to help you save some money while school shopping.

  1. Make a List – Make a list of everything you’re going to need for your children this year.  I know you probably don’t have a school supply list yet, but most parent have a good idea as to what their children will need for school.   Making a list just makes the whole process more manageable, organized and easy and when things run smooth and you know what you need you’re less likely to buy all the extra’s that you don’t really need.  Being organized pays off and saves money
  2. Coupons, Deals and Steals – I am a huge one coupons, deals and steals.  If you plan right do your research and know who has the deals you’ll be doing alright.  So do your research, jump online and see who has the best deals.  Check the big bad stores along with the mom and pop stores, grab a coupon code or two.  Does your child need gadgets for school such as laptops?  Check out Sony Store Coupons, they always have a money-saving deal.  You can save money on more than just their clothing.  Save on gizmos, gadgets, school supplies and more, when you take advantage of coupons and deal.
  3. Shop Online – I am a huge online shopper, you cannot go wrong.  We all want our children to look fabulous their first day of school.  If you’re like me and live in a small town it’s hard to buy your children something half the town isn’t already wearing.  If you can buy it online do it, most places offer free shipping along with discounts on so many products, you’ll actually get a better product at a better price than if you picked it up at the mall.  Not to mention the variety  endless, of course you cannot buy everything online but what you can buy do it.  Start looking now to have you some time and money.
  4. Don’t wait for the tax-free day –  Okay, I know people go crazy over tax-free day, that’s when so many people do their back to school shopping.  Not this mom, you’ll never see me out on the tax-free back to school holiday.  Think about it how much money does not paying taxes really save you?  Not a whole lot, you’re better off getting a JC Penny Coupon for $20 off an order over $100, plus free shipping.
  5. Start Shopping Now – Okay, so I know by starting shopping now it doesn’t really save you a whole lot of money, but it does make the expense more manageable.  Back to school shopping can get expensive, sometimes its easier to spread it out.  Just remember to hide those cloths, if your children are like mine they’ll want to wear everything before school starts.

If you keep your eyes open for coupons, deals and steals you’ll save a nice amount of money since you started your back to school shopping early.  Shopping online is one of my favorite things to do for school cloths.  My children look wonderful and it didn’t cost me a fortune, and I don’t have to worry about them having the same pants, shirts and shoes as 3 other little girls in their class.  This year doesn’t sit out waiting to go school shopping on the tax-free day, just start now, take advantage of deals, use coupons, and be a smart shopper and you’ll save money in the long run.
